Edith – Owner / Educator
The Sewing Machine always played an integral part of the home when Edith was growing up. Her father acquired one from an auction sale so she could have her own, he set up an old desk in the sunporch and Edith spent hours sewing up the scraps from her mother’s sewing projects. She was soon sewing her own clothes and did so well her friends asked her to make things for them as well. She took every sewing course available to her and progressed in her skills.
Edith’s love of sewing has led her to creating custom prom and bridal dresses, sewing for an Interior Designer, helping a start-up company by making over 100 coats for wheelchair bound clients and creating hundreds of costumes for Dance Companies. In 2004 Edith became the Educator for a large Sewing Machine Distributor in Canada, travelling from coast to coast and working with store owners and teaching all across Canada. The seeds of opening a shop of her own were planted.
In 2010 Sew Have Fun was born and Edith has not looked back. The business has grown into a thriving shop with classes for all skill levels, top quality fabrics and notions for quilting and sewing, and amazing machines that bring everything all together.
Les – Technician
Les grew up in Kitchener and enjoyed a musical childhood playing for several years in a marching band. In his late teens his family moved to North Bay and Les became involved with the Reserves. He moved on to the Haileybury School of Mines where he earned his diploma in Instrumentation. His training made it easy to transition to sewing machine repair and since his retirement Les can often be found supporting Edith in the store or at the repair bench.
